Fate versus Free Will

“Sometimes knowing your own future is what enables you to change it, especially if you’re bloody-minded, contradictory and completely unpredictable.”

—  Eleventh Doctor (Doctor Who, Ep. The Girl Who Waited) inadvertently summarising the purpose of astrology.

Don’t be afraid of family astrologers or passing-by psychics who seem to know your past and make a confident statement of your future. Prediction in astrology is projection based on certain trends observed in planetary patterns over thousands of years. Yes, those predictions often come true. Which is to say, history often repeats itself. And to the human experience, there are patterns everywhere. But there are aberrations too, as well as exceptions to the rule. Predictions don’t always come true.

Want to defy a scary prediction? Follow the path of most resistance. Take that uphill climb to deviate from your reflex actions, or what you think are hard-wired tendencies — outwit the Universe’s guess of who you are. It’s not always the first answer you get when dealing with a rough situation, and it’s not always easy to do that which seems most unnatural to you. It’s not easy at all. But it IS that easy to change your destiny.

Will you let your destiny bring you to your knees or will you flip the story and defy gravity? 🙂
